Why do girls wear Bangles?

The derivation of the word bangle can be credited to hindi word Bangri or Bangali, which in Sanskrit stands for “The ornament which adorns the arm”. Another scientific reason behind wearing a bangle is flow of positive energy within body as it wearing it on wrist keeps the blood circulation in pace.

Some historian believes that the custom of wearing bangles dates back to the time of Moguls. It was not invented to be worn as an ornament for dressing but to prevent women’s from the Moguls as they used to abduct any women that they like. Then in order to safeguard their sanctity, they started wearing bangles made of pig bones. Moguls use to treat pig as impure and unholy even if it touches any body part. So they never used to touch those women who used to wear those bangles. Later after the defeat of Moguls, these bangles were replaced by ivory bangles but soon have to be discontinued as ivory became illegal. Then came a period of colorful glass bangles that are continued till date.
